JIVU & CO (CAC BN 7626963), operator of Rentwell, is the data controller for personal data processed through Rentwell. We process personal data in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and applicable regulations of the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).

All users: name, email address, phone number, address (where provided), account role, login and device information, messages, complaints and support records.

Landlords and authorised representatives: identity verification reference (such as NIN, voter's card or passport number), ownership or representative status, property details, addresses, landmarks, photos, pricing and charges.

Tenants: saved homes, viewing requests, applications and messages to landlords, payment records and rental documents.

Verification officers: name, contact details, assignments, inspection reports, notes, inspection photos and timestamps.

Payments: payment references, amounts, status and method. Card payments are processed by Paystack. Rentwell does not receive or store full card numbers, CVV, PINs or card passwords.

To create and run your account and provide the service you ask for (contract).

To verify landlords and properties, prevent fraud and keep the platform safe (legitimate interests and legal obligation).

To process and confirm payments, issue receipts and keep financial records (contract and legal obligation).

To handle complaints, disputes and support requests (legitimate interests).

To send service notifications about your account, applications, inspections and payments (contract). We will ask for consent before sending marketing messages.

Public visitors see only approved listings: property details, approved photos and a verification summary. Landlord identity references, contact details and private records are not public.

Landlords see applications and viewing requests made for their own properties. Tenants see their own applications, payments and documents. Verification officers see properties assigned to them. Administrators access records as needed to run, secure and audit the platform.

Service providers: hosting and database providers and Paystack (payments) process data on our behalf under appropriate safeguards. We may disclose information where required by law, a court order or a lawful request from a Nigerian authority.

We do not sell personal data.

Some of our service providers may store or process data outside Nigeria. Where this happens we rely on safeguards permitted under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.

We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above. Payment, rental and verification records may be kept longer where needed for legal, tax, audit or dispute purposes.

We use access controls so that each role can reach only the records it needs, encrypted connections, and server-side payment verification. No system is perfectly secure; tell us promptly if you suspect a problem.

Subject to the law, you may ask to access, correct or delete your personal data, object to or restrict certain processing, withdraw consent where processing relies on consent, and request data portability. You may also complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
