Limitation of Liability

Rentwell operates an online rental marketplace that connects landlords and tenants, arranges property inspections and processes rental payments. Rentwell is not the owner, landlord, agent of record or builder of any listed property, and is not a party to the tenancy unless expressly agreed in writing.

Rentwell Verified means a point-in-time inspection was completed and approved. It is not a guarantee of ownership, title, legality, condition, safety, suitability or future availability of a property, or of the conduct of any landlord or tenant. See the Verification Policy.

Rentwell does not replace a landlord's legal responsibilities, including those relating to title, the tenancy agreement, repairs, safety and applicable laws.

Rentwell does not replace a tenant's responsibility to inspect the property, read the tenancy agreement and make informed decisions, including obtaining independent advice where appropriate.

To the extent permitted by Nigerian law, Rentwell is not responsible for loss or damage caused by the acts, omissions, statements or listings of landlords, tenants or other users; by banks, payment providers or other third parties; or by events beyond Rentwell's reasonable control.

To the extent permitted by Nigerian law, Rentwell is not responsible for indirect or consequential loss, such as loss of profit, business or opportunity.

Where Rentwell is responsible for a loss, its responsibility is limited to loss that was reasonably foreseeable and directly caused by Rentwell's own failure to provide the service with reasonable care and skill.

Nothing in Rentwell's terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under Nigerian law, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

Nothing in Rentwell's terms removes or restricts any mandatory right or protection you have under Nigerian law, including under the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act 2018 and the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.
